OK...so now I know how hard it is to take a photo of my own arm, LOL. I thought I'd give you a close-up of my ongoing full sleeve, it's been completely outlined but the 'colouring in' is only halfway...quite a few sessions to go already! 55 - Wrapped in clingfilm?!
24th February 2007 Sorry if the title scared you...me in clingfilm (ceramwrap) is not a thought to be subjected to over breakfast, haha. This however, is my arm in Bepanthen nappy cream and clingfilm - the best way to keep a new tattoo clean and treated. As you can see my elbow is now hugely swollen and quite bruised (the inner/outer elbow in the slightly brighter blue is where the work has been done), and is very, very painful - more so than having the actual tattoo done. It's all worth it in the long term...honest!!.

These shots look a little funny because I took them myself and rotated them to be viewed easier. I sat for another 3 hours session, making this 9 hours on the ship and 6 hours on my mermaid. I have about 3-6 more hours to go to completely finish my leg sleeve and I cannot wait to see it finished. It has turned into a masterpiece that I did not even imagine could look as good as it does. My ankle is so swollen I know have a cankle. This morning I got out of bed and just about fell flat on my face. From lying down all night my skin tightened and because I was so swollen I couldn't flex my foot let alone put pressure on it. Its a little better this evening but if I sit too long it will tighten back up, causing me to limp. Oh the pain and pleasure from getting new ink... Explored #185 May 4, 2008.

A better shot of my new tattoo. It is kind of hard to see what is going on right now, I cannot wait to get the color done. The unfinished shading is due to me crying "uncle" and giving up after 3 hours in the chair. My endorphins usually only last me 2 to 2.5 hours. My favorite parts of getting inked is the way my skin burns and throbs and gets warm right after the session, and of course the finished product. Tattoos are an amazing thing to me. They are a way to show your inner self, they are a way to showcase art, they are a superior form of self expression. Tattoos are becoming more accepted and I love the fact that the most professional looking person may be hiding a full sleeve or an entire universe on their back. Explored #10 Aug 16, 07.

Some couples have date nights...we get tattooed together. :-) My parents jokingly tell Mike that it is all his fault that I am becoming 'heavily' tattooed. It really isn't, I've always wanted tattoos but he allowed me to finally let loose and start. You have to start somewhere and my somewhere was just over a year ago w/a cliche fairy on my back. 4 multi-sitting pieces later and I am not planning on stopping. My pirate ship is my latest and it now has 6 hours of base outline and shading and 3-4 more hours of color to be added. Estimated 6 hours and my half leg sleeve should be complete. I shocked myself this morning by feeling strong cravings for starting another piece, immediately. We are planning on heading east of the mountains during the last week of November or the first week in December for one last sitting for the year. It sure has come a long way from this .
