japanese calf tattooMy marvellously shrink-wrapped and slightly swollen leg after today's tattoo :-) [ ADDED : the partner tattoo is here: www.flickr.com/photos/minxlj/2886307436 ] I never planned to have my leg tattooed (yet LOL) but my best friend Kevin Totton is training to be a tattoo artist (after 8 years as a graphic designer and illustrator...he is hugely talented) so I'm the main volunteer. He's shaping up pretty damn well :-) This symbol is the Japanese tamashii - "the purest and most raw expression from deep within the soul or spirit". I have a deep love and respect for Japanese calligraphy, language and culture - and language in general actually, hence the symbol and why I spent days researching its meaning and history. The plan is to surround it with a Japanese design of some sort, in the future :-)
japanese calligraphy tattooThe second calf tattoo, done on Monday :-) I never planned to have my leg tattooed (yet LOL) but my best friend Kevin Totton is training to be a tattoo artist (after 8 years as a graphic designer and illustrator...he is hugely talented) so I'm the main volunteer. He's shaping up pretty damn well :-) This symbol is the Japanese kokoro - "...kokoro referred to the beat of the heart, which was considered to be the essential organ of life and the source of all activities. By extension, kokoro refers to all human activities affecting the outside world through intention, emotion, and intellect." I have a deep love and respect for Japanese calligraphy, language and culture - and language in general actually, hence the symbol and why I spent days researching its meaning and history. The plan is to surround it with a Japanese design of some sort, in the future :-)

japanese cartoon tattooJá que está difícil achar alguma foto, meu estoque ao que parece acabou, vai um desenho meu só pra atualizar. Quem sabe vira uma tattoo...
japanese cherry blossom tree tattoothis is my cherry blossom tree on my back. I drew it two summers ago to replicate and paint on the porch off my room. The size that I drew it on paper was perfectly sized to fit on my back. I had been wanting a tree tattoo on my back for a year and a half, so I decided to go with this one. It got started last April and finished last May, and I absolutely love it. I've recieved a lot of positive support for it :) Overall it took 6-7 hours to finish.
japanese cherryblossoms tattoosThis flash sheet features a "Touryumon," a mythical Koi who climbed a waterfall and became a Dragon. If you are interested in using any of these designs, feel free to send me a message through Flickr. Non-watermarked, high resolution, borderless versions are available.
japanese cherrytree tattooMy new tattoo grew into a much bigger piece than I had originally intended! The really cool part is I got him to put in mountains in the background to remind me of home.

japanese dog demon tattooHere are the results of session four of my chest piece. As you can see, I have about 2-3 more hours left which will include connecting the two pieces at the breast bone and finish the remaining color on both pieces. You can kind of see the coverup where I added the note. The work is all done by Don Lussier owner of Art Freek Tatto in Providence Rhode Island. You can visit their website at www.artfreektattoo.com The crew comprises of Don, Mike, Steve, Brian and Joe.
japanese dragon in water tattooHere is the result of my 1st session with Don at Art Freek Tattoo. His skills are amazing and I am very pleased. Notice the old tribal coverup? (damn grunge era lol) I opted for a somewhat traditional Japanese dragon and Don created from scratch this piece with orchids, water and fire. This is the 1st of many sessions as I am doing both arms and chest.
