henna hand design galleryMy ex wanted me to practice some of my free-hand design on her. In particular, she wanted a design that graced the hand and draped down a finger or two, with a set of rings that I had been wanting to try out. I used a little bit of Pagan inspiration in this piece, featuring a double pentagram. In hindsight there are a lot of things in this piece that I would like to do differently. But in the end, it was just free-hand practice. What we noticed was that the design and the color that took went very well with the colors she chose during her manicure just prior to me doing my work. The colors aren't the same in the picture as they were in real life obviously; it worked together much better in person. This was taken the day after removing the paste, and already you can see the paste is very dark and deep in color. It just depends on the skin...

symbol hennaThis is the Hindu symbol Om. It is the symbol of the Absolute. I was asked to do a symbol of importance and great meaning. This is the first thing that came to mind. In this picture the paste is still setting. The next day the symbol was barely visible. She kept the paste on for about 8 hours but her skin there was just too resistant. Even after a touchup reapplication the next day it still would not hold. Unfortunate because I had the shape very crisp! It would have been beautiful. I made a home made transfer to use as a template, but that was drawn in reverse in free-hand. I want to try this design on someone again. Volunteers?

butterfly henna designHere is a shot of my left arm that I inked up. I was very bored as you could imagine, so i let my mind flow and escape for a while... This is the outcome :)! Sometimes you just need to let yourself go, and do crazy things that make you smile. A variety of red, blue, pink, purple and silver inks into the skin sure does make me feel better. It took me about an hour and a half to finally say it was finished. Which isnt bad eh ? I will be submitting some other shots in which i have inked my friends too!

She wanted something somewhat trendy and so asked for an Asian symbol. I found this symbol in one of my Reiki books, which was displayed as a Chinese symbol for "Peace". I then took some creative license, adding in some flourishes and the sun border. This is during the setting phase, so that's the Henna paste you see on her back. This is one of my all-time favorite designs I have done. I wish I could have seen the finished result before she left the next day.

tattoo henna sunThis young lady (with a gorgeous back, I might add) came in to see me one day. She was going to Mexico for Spring Break and wanted something original to display. She wanted something somewhat trendy and so asked for an Asian symbol. I found this symbol in one of my Reiki books, which was displayed as a Chinese symbol for "Peace". I then took some creative license, adding in some flourishes and the sun border. This is during the setting phase, so that's the Henna paste you see on her back. This is one of my all-time favorite designs I have done. I wish I could have seen the finished result before she left the next day.

The bride usually has an eleborate designs on both hands and feet and and the friends and family can choose to have simpler designs put on (as above).
