It's faux, and it's from Target, but at any rate, I thought it matched the red in the maple leaf over the heart of my totem eagle tattoo beautifully. I've been asked about the symbolism in my tat before: 1) I'm Canadian and will always be Canadian, in spite of where I live, hence the maple leaf over the heart. 2) My daughter was born, and I've made my home, in the US - the symbol of which is the eagle. 3) I was born under the eagle moon. 4) There's an "E" for Emma on the left wing, and an "M" for Me on the right wing. 5) My brother and my sister were both born in Vancouver (technically New Westminster), hence the "totem" styling. 6) My degree is in Linguistics, focusing on First Nations languages. The editor at Fitness Magazine who published three of my photos last month asked me to help her out. They have a new feature on their website called Show us Your Body Confidence and it is a place for real women like you and me to upload our self-portraits...self-portraits that celebrate what we love about ourselves and our bodies. Our tattoos, our hips, our big brown eyes, our long legs! There are only a few photos there now and they are hoping for some more variety and, I think, some more interesting images. :-) I'd appreciate it if you could take the 1 minute to register (FREE) and the other minute to upload a photo. female leg sleeve tattooThese shots look a little funny because I took them myself and rotated them to be viewed easier. I sat for another 3 hours session, making this 9 hours on the ship and 6 hours on my mermaid. I have about 3-6 more hours to go to completely finish my leg sleeve and I cannot wait to see it finished. It has turned into a masterpiece that I did not even imagine could look as good as it does. My ankle is so swollen I know have a cankle. This morning I got out of bed and just about fell flat on my face. From lying down all night my skin tightened and because I was so swollen I couldn't flex my foot let alone put pressure on it. Its a little better this evening but if I sit too long it will tighten back up, causing me to limp. Oh the pain and pleasure from getting new ink... Explored #185 May 4, 2008
