henna hand design galleryMy ex wanted me to practice some of my free-hand design on her. In particular, she wanted a design that graced the hand and draped down a finger or two, with a set of rings that I had been wanting to try out. I used a little bit of Pagan inspiration in this piece, featuring a double pentagram. In hindsight there are a lot of things in this piece that I would like to do differently. But in the end, it was just free-hand practice. What we noticed was that the design and the color that took went very well with the colors she chose during her manicure just prior to me doing my work. The colors aren't the same in the picture as they were in real life obviously; it worked together much better in person. This was taken the day after removing the paste, and already you can see the paste is very dark and deep in color. It just depends on the skin...

flower butterfly tattoo designHere is a shot of my left arm that I inked up. I was very bored as you could imagine, so i let my mind flow and escape for a while... This is the outcome :)! Sometimes you just need to let yourself go, and do crazy things that make you smile. A variety of red, blue, pink, purple and silver inks into the skin sure does make me feel better. It took me about an hour and a half to finally say it was finished. Which isnt bad eh ? I will be submitting some other shots in which i have inked my friends too!

She wanted something somewhat trendy and so asked for an Asian symbol. I found this symbol in one of my Reiki books, which was displayed as a Chinese symbol for "Peace". I then took some creative license, adding in some flourishes and the sun border. This is during the setting phase, so that's the Henna paste you see on her back. This is one of my all-time favorite designs I have done. I wish I could have seen the finished result before she left the next day.

hebrew design tattooMy grandfather was and remains very close to my heart. I wear his WWII dog tags around my neck everyday, and recently, designed a few different tattoos of his Hebrew name. -- My grandfather's name in english is Isadore Gordon. His first name in Hebrew is Itzhak and means "Laughter" his last name is Chaim, which means "Life". Laughter and Life. I have been designing this ink for years. I was never happy with any of the stuff I was diligently working on. A lot of my friends and family liked the work, but as usual, I'm a typography perfectionist and had to have it right for me. calf tattoo designThe Hebrew letter Shin is the first letter of both my first and and last names, in Hebrew. My feeling was the traditional Hebrew typography specimens for this particular piece would not work well and wanted this ink to hug my calf muscle on my right leg. That said, I designed a tribal-like tattoo for myself, but keeping with the Hebrew antiquity. The Shin is a powerful letter: my fave number is 3 the shin represents the number 300. It also means Shaddai another Hebrew name for God (Kabbalistic). The Shin can also mean "King over Fire". Click here for the Original Art

butterfly henna designHere is a shot of my left arm that I inked up. I was very bored as you could imagine, so i let my mind flow and escape for a while... This is the outcome :)! Sometimes you just need to let yourself go, and do crazy things that make you smile. A variety of red, blue, pink, purple and silver inks into the skin sure does make me feel better. It took me about an hour and a half to finally say it was finished. Which isnt bad eh ? I will be submitting some other shots in which i have inked my friends too!
