Koi symbolize bravery, in that when a koi is caught, it apparently does not flop around like many other fish. A koi symbolizes aspiration towards betterment, and the overcoming of difficulties. A koi also is known for swimming upstream, and going against the flow. Black, the predominate color of my koi, symbolizes the father. That was the impetus behind this entire tattoo. For those of you who that have a tattoo, no explanation is necessary. My best friend said once that a tattoo, no matter what the subject matter, marks a place in time for the person getting it. I can't think of a better way to describe it. For those that do not have a tattoo, no explanation will ever make sense..
