Session #3
Three views of my arm the day after tattoo session #3. The back and front can be found in the set..
Koi Tattoo
I wanted to take a picture of my koi tattoo, but it's was challenging to get just the tattoo. I kept getting a sliver of my face (peering intently at the camera), so I decided to use this one since that seemed to be all I could manage. (Picking up a remote shutter release soon) Edit - Since the pain question was asked - It really wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. It really only became uncomfortably painful after two hours. I think mostly because it just starts to feel raw. Otherwise the worst part was holding my arm in basically the same position as in the photo for about two and a half hours. I couldn't feel my hand for hours afterward!! :o).

Protection and Courage Symbols
According to Japanese legend if a koi succeeded in climbing the falls at a point called Dragon Gate on the Yellow River it would be transformed into a dragon. Based on that legend, it became a symbol of worldly aspiration and advancement. More generally, the Japanese associate koi (also known as carp) with perserverance in adversity and strength of purpose. Because of its strength and determination to overcome obstacles, it stands for courage and the ability to attain high goals..
Lower back tattoos have become more and more accepted throughout recent years. Want to have one too?
