Calf tattoo - tamashii symbol
My marvellously shrink-wrapped and slightly swollen leg after today's tattoo :-) [ ADDED : the partner tattoo is here: www.flickr.com/photos/minxlj/2886307436 ] I never planned to have my leg tattooed (yet LOL) but my best friend Kevin Totton is training to be a tattoo artist (after 8 years as a graphic designer and illustrator...he is hugely talented) so I'm the main volunteer. He's shaping up pretty damn well :-) This symbol is the Japanese tamashii - "the purest and most raw expression from deep within the soul or spirit". I have a deep love and respect for Japanese calligraphy, language and culture - and language in general actually, hence the symbol and why I spent days researching its meaning and history. The plan is to surround it with a Japanese design of some sort, in the future :-).
Calf tattoo 2 - Japanese symbol 'kokoro'
The second calf tattoo, done on Monday :-) I never planned to have my leg tattooed (yet LOL) but my best friend Kevin Totton is training to be a tattoo artist (after 8 years as a graphic designer and illustrator...he is hugely talented) so I'm the main volunteer. He's shaping up pretty damn well :-) This symbol is the Japanese kokoro - "...kokoro referred to the beat of the heart, which was considered to be the essential organ of life and the source of all activities. By extension, kokoro refers to all human activities affecting the outside world through intention, emotion, and intellect." I have a deep love and respect for Japanese calligraphy, language and culture - and language in general actually, hence the symbol and why I spent days researching its meaning and history. The plan is to surround it with a Japanese design of some sort, in the future :-).
Work on my 2nd Tattoo
I had to wait 5 hours for this tattoo. Got to the shop around 5pm then got worked on around 10pm. Since he made me wait so long he practically did both flowers beside my koi for free. Tattoed by Martin Black Widow Shop Manila, Philippines.
