Day 159: Perception
Far too often I fall victim to the desire to judge myself against the way others look. I go through the 365 Days pool and I see all of these beautiful women with perfect bodies and I say to myself "I wish my *insert body part here* looked that good." It's a pointless exercise. I know this. Doesn't stop me from doing it. One of the main areas of my body I'm still not crazy about is my belly. It's not toned. It's wiggly. It's jiggly. It's sorta poochy. So, naturally when I see photos of these sexy, flat bellies my mind immediately begins to get worked up. But I just have to remind myself that photos are not reality. Sure, this is a photo of my belly area. But is it real? Is this really how i would look if you were on the beach with me? Of course not. Hell, I look at this photo and I say "Wow! I wish my belly looked like that." And it's me. My belly. But not really. I lifted my arm to len.

Day 199 (May 15th): Pushing Boundaries
So I've been invited, last-minute, to give a small lecture to a small group of students and photography enthusiasts tomorrow . Which is incredibly flattering, but also completely nerve-wracking. I'm not really a good public speaker. I generally cram a ten minute presentation into two minutes because I race through my speech and I stare at my feet and turn beet red and sometimes even stutter. Which is sort of ironic considering I used to be in theatre, but I guess I lost any public speaking abilities when I gave that up. And I was talking with a friend tonight about how I can be pretty reserved and shy when it comes down to it. I get easily flustered. So I wanted to push myself and do something a little more risque for my photo. I know that this isn't incredibly daring or taboo, but I did change my mind several times about whether I wanted to post it. I kind of like these jeans bec.
