The first cut is the deepest
This is a rough picture of my first tattoo, a few hours after getting it done. It was done by Ron at Adrenaline Tattoo in Montreal, who's amazing! Love at first...er...cut? If anyone is wondering, the fleur-de-lys was an English symbol adopted by the French. So no, I used it there for personal reasons, not political..

Dia de los Muertos
Almost completed design for a tee. I'm fascinated by the Day of the Dead festival in Hispanic culture. I love the melting together of celebration and morbidity - the proliferation of sugared skulls, decorated skulls, shrines, candles, masses of flowers. It reminds me a little of the aesthetic and mood of the Baz Lurhmann film 'Romeo and Juliet' - which was obviously inspired in part by aspects of that culture. I drew reference from a human skull, marigold flowers and roses, plus also from traditional tattoo designs for the heart, crown, ribbon, butterflies and birds. Some freehanded candles, blossoms and two stars finish it off. I took it all into Illustrator and created clean linework - then hand rendered the colour with pencils (took approx 8 hours non stop). Once I get my silly programs working again I'll clean it up in Photoshop - the skull actually has beautiful blue gradien.

we'll have Halloween on Christmas, and in the night we'll wish this never ends... We went to the Body art convention in Pomona, which I somehow LOST ALL my photos from *ANGRY FACE* Met my sister's old friend, who drove out HER friends (artists for the convention) did our tattoos. My claddagh tattoo is almost complete. I need to get the heart & crown fixed now... Shawn, did a very good job I think. (they're supposed to be Jack Skellington's hands). I will post a better pic when its all healed up. I can be proud to say this is my original tattoo design (mostly) - I drew the heart & crown (not sure why it came out so bad), and knew I wanted Skeleton hands... I've been waiting 5 years to get this finished, and now I have to wait even longer to complete it.. because he charged me (a good deal,but..) more than i thought- and I thought he was gonna fix the heart/crown too.. I was kinda bu.
