His name is Gideon and he protects me. When I went to my acupuncturist after getting the tattoo she threw up her hands and said: "Augh, did you know you just tattooed a dragon over your HEART chakra? Well, we'll work around him.".

46 - Second Part of My Tattoo
I got tattooed for the 2nd time by James Kern today. He tattooed me at a convention. I'd never been to a tattoo convention before so it was quite the experience. James is absolutely amazing. I'm honored that he is tattooing me. Today he did the outline of me Temple Lion (Foo Dog). Next he will color it and put waves around both pieces of the tattoos he's done on me so far. The final part is a piece he's putting on my back. More to come.....
Protection and Courage Symbols
According to Japanese legend if a koi succeeded in climbing the falls at a point called Dragon Gate on the Yellow River it would be transformed into a dragon. More generally, the Japanese associate koi (also known as carp) with perserverance in adversity and strength of purpose. Because of its strength and determination to overcome obstacles, it stands for courage and the ability to attain high goals..
Love & Pain
Lately, I have been through a lot emotionally. I've felt love, and I've felt pain... This weekend I decided to get some more ink. But, I wanted these tattoos to truly have meaning for what I am going through in my life... I got two tattoos, about 3" tall, on my left and right ribs. The symbol on the left [supposedly] stands for Love. The symbol on the right [supposedly] stands for Pain. I seem to feel these emotions a lot these days, unfortunately together in the same situations, over and over. I got the Love symbol on my left ribs, close to the heart, because I feel that someday, Love will truly trump the pain I have felt in some recent relationships. The Pain symbol is on my right side because, while the two seem to be interrelated at the moment, I would like to, at some point, separate the two. Obviously, I'll always have pain in my life, but I'm hoping for it not to be directl.

White Ink Tattoo
This is my 3rd tattoo, and my first white ink tattoo. It is only about 24 hours old in this photo, so it's still raised and crusty looking. So far, it seems to be healing nicely, and is a nice bright white. I hope it stays that way! This was the first white tattoo the artist has done (which should have made me run away), but he's been doing it professionally for over 20 years. It's small enough to cover up if it ends up a disaster!.
