30 Day Challenge: Day 14 Something different for my self portrait today. A part of me that few people see. That slight little etching above the waistline on my shorts is my 2nd of two tattoos. Everyone and their mother knows I have a Clemson tiger paw on my ankle, but not everybody knows I have a hummingbird on my hip. I drew this particular bird. She's hovering over a morning glory for a little sweetness. The reason I have it is because my first guitar was a Gibson Hummingbird. Okay, that's not entirely true. My FIRST first guitar was my mom's old Gibson, but the hummingbird was my dream come true. It is hard to find, and mine is straight from the 60's. I happened to come accross a dealer in downtown Chicago who had one, only one. My dad, being the wonderful dream-fulfiller that he was, took a little drive down there with me to Tommy's. We met Tommy's son, also named Tommy. Then we me.

On my right hip. Yes, I know there are flaws but I'm happy with it overall..

Second tattoo. Its not finished, im either going to get it filled in, or thickened. I just need to decide =).

114.2009 Life is Messy
today's random messy fact: i got this tattoo in 1991. My life was a mess. Living in Sarasota...i was bar~tending and drinking every night. I was making Roz's (my boyfriend at the time and quite possibly my first love) life miserable. so miserable in fact that he left me and moved to Texas. Days after this tattoo was done, Roz went to the same studio and had my face tattooed to his shoulder. We're still friends and i'm still there (surprisingly without daggers thru my skull)... And then...this shot is actually dedicated, sort of, to my gran~paw ...when i got married for the first time...my grandparents gave us as a wedding present a 16X20 framed print of this tattoo...he had taken the pic and had it enlarged and framed...I loved it! But the Marriage was a mess. the divorce was a mess. and my ex's life is still a mess. I however, decided to clean up. So i hope this counts for the .
