ANGEL / DEVIL AMBIGRAM TATTOO
Hey everybody, long time no post. Things have been super hectic over the past few weeks what with the tattoo season being in full swing and a hundred other side projects that are keeping me busy as hell. Hint: Wal-Mart, Target, Hallmark, here I come! Toryn Green, lead singer of the band Fuel, called me up about a month and a half ago because he had an opportunity to be on the TV show LA Ink. He wanted to get my Angel/Devil Ambigram tattooed on him as a nod to their new album that was just released on August 7th called "Angels and Devils." How appropriate, eh? So he asked for something a little more "rock and roll" than the plain design that I already had up on the website, and this is the final product that I came up with. The design elements on either side are TG's, his initials. Unfortunately, he was unable to get this design done on the TV show because their tour was unexpecte.

I am fascinated by the way man strives to mimic nature in order to fulfill aspirations to become what we perceive as God. I am frustrated by our inability to express things of importance through our language. The possibilities of augmenting life so as to prolong it. The mixing of organic life created in Nature, and man's attempts to build similar structures in machine forms. This gives me hope, for I dread that death is nonexistence. I am enamored of our reinvention of science. I am at a loss at the realization that it is to late to avoid the coming cataclysms in nature. The death of the world as I have known it. SPINAL TOTEM TATTOO
Acrylic on canvas ~ Size: 12 X 24" (30.5 x 60.9 cm) Completed in December 2007 This is a commission for a TATTOO, (and a painting). In the beginning I was hesitant. However, it has turned out to be a VERY interesting piece! It's painted to form along the spine of the collectors back. ( a 'back piece") I'm anxious to see what this will look like when it is actually on his body! (I will upload a picture of that when I have it) I have never considered doing Tattoo design before. However, I had such an excellent time designing this one, I would gladly take on another assignment. The nice thing is the person who commissions something like this gets a TATTOO and a PAINTING! This looks wonderful as a painting on my wall. Although this tattoo is done for my collectors use only as a tattoo, I will be selling mounted giclee prints with hand painted boarders which look exactly like the ori.

THE BONE FACTORY

Unlike my last 6 paintings, in which I used a very simple and dark palette, this time I've used a colorful cartoon comic book style. The use of abstract forms in the factory and cartoonish images for the objects in the foreground was a 'kick' and a challenge. I wanted to make representations of death, pollution and fear using colorful and merry imagery. In this painting I've continued to paint what's on my mind concerning Earth pollution, Global warming and mass extinction, (including our own). It's a big colorful painting that draws your attention with smiling skulls and happy colors. It's my hope that when you look more closely, you will realize that you are looking at a pi.
NIGHT of the DROWNING CLOWNS
Here's one for you Clown enthusiasts. It did not really begin this painting with anything in my mind having to do with Clowns. I was thinking of a dark slow moving sewer. I was thinking of black water moving slow along in a drain pipe under a city. The water polluted with the waste of the dwellers above. The dank smell of urine, feces, rot and decay. Mildew and scum. The slimy walls of the inside of the pipe covered with fuzzy horrors, rats and cockroaches. Spiders and worms. Dead animals writhing with maggots as they flowed down stream with the current. Huge green and blue black flies feasting on sludge and goop. Then, I visioned a man. A man swimming or wading through this gross morass. He has blisters and boils and cancerous growths covering his body. One of his eyes gone, replaced with an "eight ball"! (haHA!) Then I realized, "This is a clown!" A SEWER CLOWN! Perhaps I should.
